MD of EDIT Recruitment to run 100 miles in November for The Samaritans!

“Hey, I’m Nathan, Managing Director and Founder of EDIT Recruitment

I have decided to raise money for The Samaritans because when I was struggling three to four years ago with my own mental battles, I would need to ring their number at least three times a week.

Having recently come to terms with my own struggles, I would love to help others, whilst giving back to the charity that gave so much to me.

I will be challenging myself to not only jog 30 kilometers for November but to run 160 kilometers – 100 miles! This is a huge test, but I’m looking forward to hopefully raising awareness of mental health and money for The Samaritans.”

So, who are ‘The Samaritans’?

The Samaritans is a charity that is available 24/7 to speak through your mental health issues. They allow a safe space and listening ear, so that you to get certain things off your chest, confidentially. They will help signpost you to relevant help and care if needed.

Samaritans is available round the clock, every single day of the year, providing a safe place for anyone struggling to cope, whoever they are, however they feel, whatever life has done to them. For more information, please visit Their number is 116 123.

Just to give you some understanding of just what this charity does; the Samaritans daily, respond to around 10,000 calls for help. No judgement, no pressure. They’re there for anyone who needs someone.

How have the Samaritans helped me, personally?

“The Samaritans would help prevent me from taking thoughts into action. They would allow me to speak and in return, give advice on how to process and deal with issues.

Without them, and other charitable organisations I don’t feel that I would be in the position that I am in today.

I am now aiming to bring my own struggles into positive influences by partnering with businesses and various community organisations. By doing this, I hope to raise as much money as possible to help the charities that helped me.

Earlier in the year, I ran to raise money for Hull and East Yorkshire Mind and Andy’s Man Club, another two charities that are close to my heart.

Along with that, I also strive to help my employees, colleagues, and friends, to get the right training and be aware of their own and other people’s mental health. Both the teams at EDIT Recruitment and Reach Resourcing are looking forward to partnering with more charities, whilst on personal levels, we’re hoping to raise increased awareness and funds for other important causes. I’m hoping to offer Mental Health Training to the teams, as well as looking forward to participating in events together to spur us on further.”

“Any donations, no matter how big or small, are appreciated. Any little amount can make a huge difference to the Samaritans.

To keep updated with my progress, and for plenty of red-faces selfies, I’ll be sharing my progress on the page, as well as on EDIT Recruitment’s social media channels.

To donate, please visit my Just Giving page: Thank you for taking your time to listen to my story.”
