A day in the life:

On a day-to-day basis, you will focus on installing, maintaining, managing, and supporting PCs, servers, and network devices for various sites within the UK.

The successful candidate will ensure that the infrastructure across the business, and at every site is implemented correctly, documented, and supported. This will include both remote and onsite troubleshooting, project implementations, and support. 

Main duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Support a varied server, desktop, network & infrastructure estate 
  • Action & resolve tickets within a timely manner based on SLA & priority
  • Provide technical support to projects as and when required
  • Provide support to end-users/IT teams
  • Working in a collaborative team environment by engaging, sharing knowledge & communicating effectively
  • Ensure systems are patched/updated according to the group’s policies
  • Document work processes and update knowledge base
  • Install & configure the infrastructure systems across the group
  • Provide support to end-users on-site & off-site
  • Project-based site survey and documentation
  • Site visits to audit/implement the IT infrastructure
  • Document work processes and update knowledge base
  • The physical build of racks, cabinets and ensuring that they are properly installed, configured & documented e.g. servers, PC’s, uninterrupted power supplies, switches, routers, KVM, etc
  • Manage a Hyper V environment including setup, configuration & troubleshooting
  • Managing time effectively between technical support and project delivery, and where necessary prioritising service calls and adjusting work plans to support high priority incidents and the delivery of services
  • Travel to various sites to manage/support infrastructure & assist with project work

Requirements, experience and person specification:

  • Full driving license
  • Able to travel to various sites in the UK
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, face to face and over the telephone
  • Adaptable; willing to get involved in other areas of IT
  • Knowledge of Windows 10/Server OS, Office, Networking (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS), Hyper V, Active Directory 
  • Relevant experience in providing technical support on IT systems in a busy environment 
  • Knowledge of Cisco, Meraki, Watchguard would be advantageous 
  • Have an eye for delivering efficiency and improvements 
  • Hands-on approach 
  • Highly organised and able to work on own initiative to complete the range of tasks required 
  • Have solid experience in a technical support environment
