Meet Martin, EDIT’s new Recruitment Consultant!
Hey, good morning! We’re particularly fed up with this horrible weather, aren’t you? In brighter news, more exciting news, we have added an additional member to the team (yes, another!) and we’re delighted to introduce him in this week’s blog article.
Martin joined us about a month ago now (how time flies!) and since then, has been settling into the team brilliantly! Martin has been a great addition to the team, and most recently, has helped build EDIT’s contract desk. He also is very much up for a laugh and causes us to bellylaugh, daily!
So without further ado, please give a very, very warm welcome to Martin, the latest team member to join the EDIT family.
Hey, Martin! Please give us a little information about yourself and what you enjoy getting up to, outside of the workplace?
“I’m Martin, married to Sarah and have two boys Daniel & Lewis. I’m not native to Hull, but moved up to the East Riding from Cambridgeshire more than 16 years ago due to work.
I’m a keen musician and music producer (and also used to DJ in a former life!); support Liverpool FC; enjoy cooking, art, photography, architecture, classic cars & sports cars”
What does your role entail at EDIT Recruitment?
“I provide temporary and permanent recruitment solutions to our clients, through the provision of experienced digital and tech personnel. I match candidates to roles; validating their interest and availability and providing both clients and candidates with the professional experience that they should expect.
I also research industry, trends, needs and companies; developing relationships and business through networking.”
Furthermore, what advice would you offer to someone looking to apply for a role with EDIT?
“We are a collection of talented recruitment and tech individuals, all with the same goal of providing an unrivalled service to our customers.”
What do you love most about working at EDIT?
“The people, the atmosphere and working environment.
They are not your ‘common or garden’ every day/high street recruitment company. Their people are genuine and really want to make a difference in recruitment.“
You’re tasked with getting lunch for the team at EDIT, what’s your go-to treat?
“It’s a tricky one – knowing that my colleagues will pretty much eat anything from a filthy kebab to a Michelin starred dish – do I go with what I want, or crowd-pleasers?
You can’t really go too far wrong with pizza (unless don’t do gluten etc…), but ham and pineapple would be banned!“
And, your favourite office playlist on a Friday?
“Sorry, but not Shaune’s!
My taste in music is well, some might say weird, but I would class it as quite eclectic.
Pop Will Eat Itself ‘Def Con One’; The Wonder Stuff ‘Give, give, give, me more, more more’; The Beastie Boys ‘Sabotage’; The Chemical Brothers ‘Setting Sun’; Fatboy Slim ‘Everybody loves a 303’; Donna Summer ‘I feel love’; The Prodigy ‘Firestarter’; Taylor Swift ‘Shake it off’; Ed Sheeran ‘Castle on the hill’; George Ezra ‘Budapest“
What are you looking forward to in the next few months?
“A summer holiday and getting out and enjoying decent weather and getting to know my co-workers outside of the office environment!
Seriously…. getting the opportunity to build the temp contract desk, expanding the coverage of EDIT Recruitments scope of business and support to their clients and building relationships with new companies and candidates.”
Finally, after a long day at work, how do you relax?
“Listen to (and sing along to) music in the car on the way home, typically 1980’s/90’s indie. When I get home, I normally get involved with prepping/cooking tea and/or playing with the kids and helping them with any schoolwork or reading. Eventually, when we settle down for the evening, we tend to watch something on Netflix or Prime.”
Thank you, Martin!
